Medical Center of the Rockies

UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies is a 193-bed regional medical center in Loveland, Colorado with a full spectrum of services and specializing in heart and trauma care.

Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR) has two intensive care units, a birthing center and a special care nursery, a medical nursing unit, a surgical nursing unit, and full-service radiology and laboratory departments.

Surgical services include general surgery, cardiothoracic, orthopedic trauma and neurological trauma. Robotic-assisted surgery also plays a prominent role in patient care. MCR also has an acute dialysis unit.

Experience

I started employment with UCHealth as a Certified Nursing Assistant on the Cardiology floor in 2017, while pursuing further education. Upon graduation from Pima Medical Institute in 2022 I accepted a position at the Medical Center of the Rockies (MCR). Here I was exposed to a fast-paced trauma environment, splitting my time between the Surgical ICU and the Emergency Department. While there I rewrote the mechanical ventilation protocol and assisted in setting up a tracheostomy team that streamlined the process of utilizing speaking valves and working towards decannulation.
